HIV Today

The number of HIV positive individuals in Siouxland continues to steadily increase. 40% of HIV/AIDS patients seen at Siouxland Community Health Center live in rural Siouxland. Many of these individuals appear to be at little or no risk for HIV. Diagnoses continue to increase among women, heterosexuals and Hispanics.

HIV testing provides an opportunity for patient counseling on risk factors and safe sex practices. HIV testing also provides an early intervention in many cases to avoid late diagnosis and provide long-term primary care.
